Preliminary Grade Repetition of Melodic Phrases
Repetition of melodic phrases is all about you being able to reproduce very quickly, by that I mean in one or two goes, a phrase of melody just by listening to it and knowing what scale is used.
There are four scales required at Preliminary Grade:
A Natural Minor
G Pentatonic Major
Here are a few examples for you to practise at this grade, the name of the exercise will tell you which scale is being used and you will hear the root note of the scale first and then the phrase to repeat twice. This is presented how you would get it in the exam. As before, if you get to the point where you've done these and memorised them, then leave them a number of days and then come back and try again. They all use the exact scales from the grading book.
